The Supreme Court observed that it may intervene and pass appropriate orders in the Saikrishna case if the Andhra Pradesh High Court does not direct a CBI investigation, according to a statement issued by the YSRCP Central Office.
During the hearing, the Court was informed that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had reserved its judgment in a habeas corpus petition filed in connection with the case. The Court was also informed that a related matter involving an NGO remained pending before the High Court. After considering the submissions, the Supreme Court said it would await the High Court's order concerning the CBI investigation, according to the YSRCP statement. The matter was subsequently adjourned for four weeks and directed to be listed on October 26, 2026, the statement said. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the custodial death of Gade Saikrishna was yet another slap in the face of the Chandrababu Naidu government.
