Delhi Metro takes action against ticket operator for financial mishandling

Delhi Metro takes action against ticket operator for financial mishandlingNI): Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Thursday said that it has taken cognizance of a video in circulation regarding an act of alleged financial mishandling by a ticket office machine (TOM) operator at the Nirman Vihar Metro station.

DMRC said that upon receiving a complaint, they thoroughly investigated and identified the employee involved as a contractual operator employed by M/s Nuvision Commercial & Escort Services (NCES).

In a post on X, DMRC said, "A video is in circulation regarding an act of financial mishandling by a Ticket Office Machine (TOM) Operator at the Nirman Vihar Metro station. Upon receiving the complaint, DMRC took immediate cognizance of the matter, and after a thorough investigation, the concerned employee was identified as a contractual operator employed by an agency named M/s Nuvision Commercial & Escort Services (NCES)."

The operator, however, has been removed from service and imposed a penalty on the contractor under the 'Service Deficiency Memo' clause of the contract, said DMRC.

Additionally, DMRC said that they have instructed personnel at stations to closely monitor and conduct surprise checks at TOM counters to prevent such incidents in the future.

DMRC also requested passengers to verify the exact amount returned to them before leaving the counters.

"A penalty under the 'Service Deficiency Memo' clause of the contract was imposed on the contractor. Subsequently, the operator was also removed from services with immediate effect. DMRC personnel posted at stations have been instructed to closely monitor and conduct surprise checks at the TOM counters to ensure such acts are not repeated. The passengers are also requested to check the exact amount returned to them before leaving the counters," DMRC added in the post.
