Reacting to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's resignation statement, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai said it was 'his decision', adding that the post of Chief Minister is important.

Speaking to ANI, Ajay Rai said, "This is his (Arvind Kejriwal's) own decision. I would just like to say that the post of Chief Minister is important. One should work on this post day by day and serve the public day by day."

Meanwhile, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said that it is shameful for someone who led a movement against corruption to now appear to be compromising with it.

The BJP leader compared Kejriwal's situation to other leaders like former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who both resigned from their positions. He questioned if Kejriwal was "scared that the chair would slip out of his hands."

"Why didn't he resign earlier? We are staunch opponents of Lalu Yadav, but he too resigned from his post. Jharkhand CM (Hemant Soren) also resigned. Was Kejriwal afraid of losing his position? Why does he need two days?" Prasad asked.

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that he will resign from the position of Chief Minister after two days and won't sit on the chair of CM until the public of Delhi declares him "honest."

Kejriwal further said that if the public votes for him, it will give him a certificate for his honesty. He also said he would ask for early polls along with the state of Maharashtra. (ANI)
