Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Friday evening visited different areas of Vadodara city to inspect the cleaning and other works done by various teams of the municipality amid flood in the region.

During his visit, he interacted with the sanitation workers and also held a meeting with the staff of Vadodara Municipal Corporation.

Giving details about his visit, the MoS told ANI, "Today (August 30) we inspected the area and also met with the people affected (by the flood)...I am thankful to the corporators and the cleaning staff for the work done by them."

He added, "I think the corporators have decided how to make Vadodara number one (city) not in Gujarat but in the country. This stubbornness should be there in Corporators. I have seen this stubbornness in all corporators in two days...I want to thank all the sanitation workers also who have done amazing work..."

Meanwhile, amid the flood-like situation in Gujarat, Jamnagar Collector Bhavin Pandya said that the district administration's focus remains on providing immediate relief and ensuring the safety of the people.

"There has been very heavy rain in Jamnagar for the last 3-4 days, due to the overflow of various dams, there was a flood situation in different parts of the cities and villages. There has also been waterlogging in different areas. The situation was tense," the Jamnagar collector said.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Ramashray Yadav said that Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar are expected to get light to moderate rains today.

"Kachchh has received very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours...Gujarat has received 882 mm of rainfall since June 1, which is 50 percent more than normal...Saurashtra and Kachchh regions have also recorded more than normal rainfall...Light to moderate rains are expected for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar today," Yadav said in a statement.
