Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita Ambani has announced plans to modernise Mumbai's SevenHills Hospital into a 1,500-bed integrated medical hub, saying the project reflects the Foundation's commitment to delivering healthcare that combines "clinical excellence with compassion" while expanding access to quality treatment across the country.

Speaking while accepting the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) Humanitarian Award, Ambani outlined Reliance Foundation's vision for strengthening healthcare infrastructure, with a focus on advanced medical research, specialised treatment and affordable care.

Highlighting the Foundation's plans for the facility, she said work on the modernisation of SevenHills Hospital would begin this year. She described it as one of Mumbai's largest integrated healthcare centres, with dedicated facilities for clinical research, cancer care, emergency and trauma services, organ transplantation and the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

"This year, we will commence our plan to modernise our new SevenHills Hospital, envisioned to be one of Mumbai's largest hospitals and a truly integrated medical hub, leading in clinical research, cancer care, emergency and trauma services, organ transplant, neuro-generative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's," Nita Ambani said.

She also added that the hospital has a planned capacity of 1,500 beds, with more than 450 beds earmarked for economically weaker sections. She noted that the initiative is aimed at ensuring quality healthcare reaches patients with dignity and compassion.

"SevenHills has a planned capacity of 1,500 beds, of which more than 450 beds will be dedicated to serving the economically weaker sections of society. Together, these hospitals will help us serve the people of Mumbai and from all over India, representing our commitment to healthcare that combines clinical excellence with compassion, and scale with dignity. That is why receiving this recognition from a community of such noble healers makes it especially meaningful for me..."

Meanwhile, the award recognises Nita Ambani's exceptional contributions across healthcare, education, sports, culture, and community development, while also acknowledging her steadfast commitment to serving society with compassion, dignity, and purpose.

In a further recognition of her humanitarian efforts, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor presented Nita Ambani with the Key to the City of Tampa, one of the highest civic honours in the United States. The symbolic honour represents the city's gratitude and its tradition of opening its doors to individuals whose contributions have made a meaningful impact on humanity. (ANI)
