Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita Ambani extended warm greetings to Americans and the Indian community in the US on the country's 250th Independence anniversary while accepting the AAPI Humanitarian Award, saying the occasion was an opportunity to celebrate the shared values of India and the United States.
Speaking during her acceptance address, Ambani said the honour carried significance beyond personal recognition, as it came during the United States' 250th year of independence. She also noted that the occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between the two countries and extend greetings to the Indian diaspora in America. "This weekend, America marks 250 years of its independence. On this joyous occasion, I am joined by Mukesh, our children, and the entire Reliance family in extending our heartfelt felicitations to all our sisters and brothers in America...," she said. "I stand before you today not only to receive an award. I stand here as an Indian woman on American soil, on a historic weekend, to honour what this movement means for our two great democracies and to reflect on the opportunity that it represents," she added. The award recognises Nita Ambani's exceptional contributions across healthcare, education, sports, culture, and community development, while also acknowledging her steadfast commitment to serving society with compassion, dignity, and purpose. In a further recognition of her humanitarian efforts, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor presented Nita Ambani with the Key to the City of Tampa, one of the highest civic honours in the United States. The symbolic honour represents the city's gratitude and its tradition of opening its doors to individuals whose contributions have made a meaningful impact on humanity. (ANI)
