Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday mocked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday for criticising him over a video in which he is seen eating fish with Vikassheel Insaan Party chief Mukesh Sahani.

Speaking to ANI, Tejashwi Yadav said, "I respect Rajnath Singh, he is old, he is a guardian. He is saying this to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi happy. To maintain his relevance, he is saying this. When Rajnath Singh says something against us, then only the PM will be happy." But he didn't talk about the main issue."

Taking a dig at Rajnath Singh, the former Bihar Deputy CM also said that he doesn't talk about the main issue and slammed him for failing to talk about the Agniveer Scheme. "He is the Defence Minister of India, he doesn't talk about the Agniveer scheme, about which the youth of the country are discouraged."

A day before, while addressing a public rally in Bihar's Banka, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh slammed Tejashwi Yadav after his video of eating fish with Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani went viral on social media.

Addressing a public rally in Bihar's Jamui, Rajnath Singh said, "You may eat fish, a pig or an elephant. But what is the point you are trying to prove by making a show of your act at a time when people are observing austerities? Who has given you the right to hurt people's sentiments? Arrogance to this extent? Even during our Ramayana period, we have seen what is the fate of those who develop ego."

Rajnath Singh's remarks came after PM Narendra Modi had attacked the 'Mughal' mindset of INDIA bloc leaders Rahul Gandhi, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and his son Tejashwi Yadav for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and teasing them by cooking mutton during Sawan and eating fish during Navratri.

On Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan's statement that NDA will win all 40 seats in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav said, "What is new in it. It will become clear in the time to come. The home has been snatched."

Tejashwi Yadav also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not taking action on those leaders who are openly talking about changing the Constitution and his silence means that PM Modi agrees with the party leaders of changing the Constitution.

"Several leaders of BJP are talking about changing the Constitution and the PM is silent. This means that he is okay with this. If he is not, then why is he not taking any action? Why isn't he saying anything?... People will not tolerate this... PM Modi He destroyed the country," said former Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister.

Mahagathbandhan, the opposition coalition in Bihar, including the RJD, Congress, and Left parties, announced that the RJD, its largest constituent, will contest 26 out of the state's 40 Lok Sabha seats in the elections.

The NDA is also in a seat-sharing agreement in Bihar with the Janata Dal-United (JDU) and the LJP for the Lok Sabha polls. The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to contest 17 seats and JD-U 16.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA, comprising the BJP, JDU, and LJP, dominated the 2019 elections by winning 39 out of 40 seats.

In the first phase, voting is to be held in 4 seats in Bihar on April 19. Those 4 Lok Sabha seats are Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada and Jamui.

Bihar will see polling in seven phases. The first phase of polling will be held on April 19, the second phase on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and the seventh phase on June 1.

The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be held in seven phases, starting on April 19. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4. (ANI)
