PM Modi pays tributes to social reformer Jyotirao Phule, says, "his relentless efforts left indelible mark on society"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Jyotirao Phule on his 197th birth anniversary on Thursday and said that the social reformer's relentless efforts in the field of education and women empowerment have left an indelible mark on society.

PM Modi took to his X social media account to reiterated his government's commitment to fulfilling the vision of the social reformer to empower the poor and marginalised.

"Today, we pay homage to the great Mahatma Phule on his Jayanti. A visionary social reformer who dedicated his life to fighting injustice and promoting equality, his thoughts give strength to millions. His relentless efforts in the field of education and women empowerment have left an indelible mark on society. Today is an occasion to reiterate our commitment to fulfilling his vision to empower the poor and marginalized," PM Modi said.

Jyotirao Govindrao Phule was an Indian social activist, thinker, anti-caste social reformer, and writer from Maharashtra. His work extended to many fields, including the eradication of untouchability and the caste system.

Several Congress leaders, including Congress President Malliakrjun Kharge and party MP Rahul Gandhi also paid their tributes to Phule.

"I bow down to our source of inspiration, great social reformer, thinker, continuously fighting for equality and equal rights, who was dedicated to the education and upliftment of women, 'Krantisurya' Mahatma Jyotiba Phule ji on his birth anniversary," Kharge said.

Rahul Gandhi said that the path shown by Phule towards social justice and harmony continues to inspire the people.

"Tribute to the great revolutionary, Indian thinker and social worker Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary. By eradicating the evils prevalent in the society, the path shown by him towards social justice and harmony continues to inspire us," Gandhi said. (ANI)
