Congress MP Karti P Chidambaram on Saturday said that the alliance in the state is very strong while expressing confidence that the INDIA bloc will win all seats in Tamil Nadu in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.

"We had a closed-door meeting with the former Congress president and the Congress General Secretary where we discussed the status of the party in Tamil Nadu and our future prospects," Karti P Chidambaram said while speaking to ANI in Chennai.

He further said, "Our alliance is very strong. We're very confident that we will win all the seats, the alliance will win all the seats in Tamil Nadu in the upcoming elections. We talked generally about our party affairs and how to strengthen the organisation. But it is a closed-door meeting. It was a freewheeling meeting where everybody spoke their mind."

Earlier today, a meeting headed by Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi along with the party's general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was held at a private hotel in Chennai. The meeting was attended by Tamil Nadu Congress senior leaders, party MPs and MLAs.

Speaking about the meeting, Congress MP Manickam Tagore said that during the meeting Sonia Gandhi asked all the party leaders to work unitedly with the INDIA leaders to win 39 seats from Tamil Nadu.

"Today Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi spoke with Congress leaders and reviewed the preparations for Lok Sabha elections and the INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu. All the leaders briefed Sonia Gandhi about the ground situation. She asked all the Congress leaders to work unitedly with the INDIA leaders at ground level & to win 39 seats from Tamil Nadu. Congress party is continuously taking steps to take the message of caste census to the ground level," Manickam Tagore said while speaking to ANI in Chennai.

Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in Chennai to attend the DMK Women's Rights Conference earlier today.

The conference, which will be chaired by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, will press the central government for the immediate implementation of a 33 per cent reservation of women in Parliament and state assemblies. (ANI)
