Uttar Pradesh: 4 arrested for facilitating cheating in IBPS exam

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Monday arrested four members of a gang allegedly involved in helping persons with disabilty (PwD) category candidates cheat in IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) examinations in Kanpur Nagar, about 80 kilometres west of the state capital Lucknow.

The arrested accused have been identified as Avnish Yadav, Ashish Kumar, Rahul Kumar Sinha and Ankit Sachan.

The STF said the gang allegedly arranged scribes for candidates and helped them clear the examination through fraudulent means.

During the arrests, the STF recovered five mobile phones, four Aadhaar cards, three PAN cards, a driving licence, a passport, a bank ATM card and an iPad. A car, forged documents and Rs 2,750 in cash were also recovered.

During the interrogation, the accused revealed the names of alleged gang leader Manish Kumar Mishra and Raju Gupta a resident of Bihar.

A case has been registered at Sachendi police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Public Examinations Act.

Further investigation is underway.

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts centralised recruitment examinations for posts such as Probationary Officer (PO), Clerk, Specialist Officer (SO), and Regional Rural Banks (RRB) to recruit personnel for public sector banks in India. (ANI)
