Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ten years in power as a turning point in India's history, asserting that it marks the end of one era and the beginning of another.

Speaking at the launch of the book Indian Renaissance: The Modi Decade, Shah stated that the transformative changes brought by Modi's leadership would be recognized even by his harshest critics.

Shah further asserted that when India's history is written, Modi's decade of governance will be inscribed in golden letters. The statement comes as the Modi government highlights its achievements over the past ten years, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"Ten years of PM Modi... will truly mark the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Whenever the history of India will be written, even Modiji's 10 years of rule will have to be written in golden letters by his harshest critics, this is my firm belief," Shah said.

In his speech, Shah highlighted India's transformation over the past decade, noting the nation's economic progress, social reforms, successful response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the various welfare schemes implemented for the people.

Shah also underlined that the Modi government has reshaped India's political, economic, and social landscape, propelling the nation to the world's fifth-largest economy from 11th place in 2014.

He stated that India's history will need to be divided into three key phases: before and after Independence, before and after the Emergency, and before and after the Modi era.

The Home Minister also conveyed that Modi's leadership had ushered in a transformative period, comparable to some of the most defining moments in India's past. He expressed his confidence that even Modi's critics would eventually recognise the significance of his decade in power.

The event, attended by political leaders, intellectuals, and scholars, offered a moment of reflection on the policies, reforms, and visions that have defined India's trajectory over the past ten years. (ANI)
