The opposition expressed disappointment over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reply in the Rajya Sabha to the motion of thanks on the President's Address, accusing him of remaining silent on issues such as inflation and unemployment.

On PM Modi's address in Rajya Sabha, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari told ANI, "On motion of thanks on the President's speech, PM gave a very disappointing and frustrating reply...I am very disappointed. It looks like now PM is not left with any message to give to our country, he is disappointed with his govt's work and hence he is abusing Congress..."

BJD MP Sasmit Patra said, "As a BJD MP, I hope that the PM in his speech in Rajya Sabha today would speak on the special category state status of Odisha..."

TMC MP Sushmita Dev questioned the vision of 'Viskit Bharat'.

Dev told ANI, "I am sad that the PM spoke on things which had nothing to do with the main issues. Today, the way inflation is rising and youth are suffering due to unemployment, but the PM did not say a word about it. What is Viksit Bharat? Can anyone tell what will be the parameters to be met to be called Viksit Bharat?"

CPI-M MP John Brittas also criticised the PM's speech, stating," It is disappointing the PM went on taking refuge on the (issue of) Emergency, it has been almost 10 years since he started speaking about the emergency. I don't think the PM should be taking alibi in failures of the Congress govt for the shortcoming of his govt".

On Thursday, PM Modi accused Congress of appeasement politics and said the BJP-led NDA government works for "shantushtikaran" (total saturation) and not "tushtikaran".

In his reply in Rajya Sabha to the motion of thanks on the President's Address, PM Modi said the government lives by the ideal of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'.

"We have tried to ensure that India's resources are optimally utilised. We've taken an approach of saturation. We've tried and ensured that the schemes reach the beneficiaries without any pilferages. In the last decade, we've worked with the idea of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' and that has brought results," he said. (ANI)
