"We are world's largest democracy, mother of democracy": Union Minister Nitin Gadkari unfurls national flag

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday celebrated India's 76th Republic Day by unfurling the national flag at his Delhi residence. He proudly declared, "We are the world's largest democracy and the mother of democracy."

Gadkari emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mission to make India self-reliant, aiming for a 5 trillion economy and becoming a global leader.

Speaking to ANI, Gadkari said "We are the world's largest democracy and the mother of democracy...PM Modi's mission is to make 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', to become a 5 trillion economy, to become a 'Vishwaguru'...We all should take a pledge to make the country the third largest economy in the world..."

Taking to social media X, tUnion MinisterGadkari wished the nation paying tribute to freedom fighters and encourage citizens to uphold their constitutional duties.

"Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all countrymen on Republic Day. On this national festival, let us remember our great freedom fighters and pledge to remain committed to our constitutional duties," the post read.

As India is celebrating its 76th Republic Day on Sunday, people across the country are celebrating the day with great enthusiasm, immersing themselves in the spirit of patriotism.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a heartfelt tribute to the bravehearts who laid down their lives for the country, at the National War Memorial, marking the beginning of the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accompanied by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh as he reached the National War Memorial to pay heartfelt tribute to our heroes.

Leading the ceremony, PM Modi laid a wreath at the National War Memorial as the country remembered its bravehearts.

Following the wreath-laying, Commander Amit Rathi leading the Inter-Services guard comprising 21 inner guards along with 06 buglers, gave command for Salami Shastra, following which, the command for the Shok Shashtra was given.

The mesmerising sound of 'Last Post' filled the air as officers in uniform saluted in reverence and everyone observed a two-minute silence to honour the departed soldiers. (ANI)
