Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader CR Kesvan on Monday exuded confidence in the Mahayuti alliance, of which BJP is a constituent, winning the upcoming Maharashtra assembly election and stated that the people of Maharashtra have seen 'great' change and progress in the last two years.

Speaking to ANI CR Kesvan said, "In the last two years, the people of Maharashtra have seen a great change and progress. In the coming days, people will vote for Mahayuti, ensuring a prosperous and Vikshit Maharashtra."

"The people of Maharashtra have a very clear choice between them: one, the Mahyuti, which stands for progress and development, and on the other side, Congress and MVA stand for communal division and politics of polarization," the BJP leader added.

Kesavan further alleged Congress and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) of leading a communal campaign ahead of Maharashtra assembly polls and termed the MVA as 'Muslim Vote appeasement.'

"Communal campaign by the Congress and its allies makes one wonder whether the MVA now stands for Muslim Vote appeasement," Kesvan added.

"The Congress Chief Minister's provocative pronouncements of Muslim quota dangerously mirror one of the outrageous demands by the All India Ulema Board," he added.

He further stressed that the religious-based reservations are against the spirit of the Indian Constitution for which Baba Saheb Ambedkar lived and died.

He claimed that the Congress party does not care about the Constitution. "The Congress Party does not care about the Constitution nor doing justice to the people because the only agenda is, as you have seen in this campaign, a polarizing agenda, a communal narrative, and communal division," Kesvan alleged.

Claiming that the Congress' divisive agenda is to consolidate their minority vote bank by dividing others, he said, "This is what the Prime Minister has exactly warned about."

Attacking the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress leader, he said, "Rahul Gandhi will never talk about the caste in the minority vote bank because he wants to consolidate that."

Notably, 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will go to polls on November 20, with counting of votes to be held on November 23.

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, comprising Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar), and Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, is up against the Mahayuti alliance, which is comprised of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath-led Shiv Sena, and NCP (Ajit Pawar).

In the 2019 assembly elections in Maharashtra, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42. (ANI)
