Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat on Monday exuded confidence in winning the Maharashtra polls and said that Maha Vikas Aghadi will win over 180 seats.

"Today is the last day of campaigning for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The public is supporting Maha Vikas Aghadi and we will cross the mark of 180 seats...The public should come out to vote in large numbers and should vote for development," Thorat told ANI.

Earlier today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in his final attempt to land a final blow at the BJP and its Mahayuti alliance, mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remark of "ek hain to safe hain" by bringing out a safe during a press conference.

"The Maharashtra election is an election of ideologies and an election between 1-2 billionaires and the poor. The billionaires want the land of Mumbai to go into their hands. The estimate is that Rs 1 lakh crores will be given to one billionaire. Our thinking is that Maharashtra, the farmers of Maharashtra, the poor, the unemployed, and the youth need help," Gandhi said.

On November 16, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader DK Shivakumar said that Maha Vikas Aghadi will win over 175 seats.

"We are confident that the Congress party, Sharad Pawar ji, Uddhav Thackeray ji, all of them will win the elections and save Maharashtra. Maha Vikas Aghadi will win about 175 seats...The entire country has followed Maharashtra and Karnataka itself is a model for Maharashtra," Shivakumar said.

Today was the last day of the election campaign.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place on November 20, votes will be counted on November 23.

In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP secured 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the MVA delivered a strong performance, winning 30 of the 48 seats, while the Mahayuti managed to secure 17. (ANI)
