Agartala observes police commemoration day, honouring sacrifices of 35,000 officers nationwide

Police Commemoration Day was observed with deep respect at the Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium in A.D. Nagar Police Line, Agartala, honouring the sacrifices made by police personnel nationwide.

Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan spoke about the importance of this day. He said, "Since India's independence, nearly 35,000 police officers have laid down their lives to uphold the nation's integrity and ensure societal peace."

He added, "This day holds deep pride and sorrow for us as we remember those who sacrificed everything for our country."

DGP Ranjan highlighted the dedication of police officers, who face various challenges from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from the Northeast to the Western Coast. He then reassured the public about the police force's commitment to maintaining order and peace."We are prepared to sacrifice our lives to tackle any issues that arise, ensuring that peace is restored and society functions smoothly", Ranjan said.

During the ceremony, attendees reflected on the bravery and resilience of the police force, honouring their continuous efforts to create a safer environment for everyone.

Chief Secretary JK Sinha also paid tribute, and said, "On this Police Commemoration Day, I express my heartfelt tribute to all the police personnel and security forces who have sacrificed their lives. I pray to God to grant their families and all members of the police community the strength to endure this difficult situation."

DGP Amitabh Ranjan added, "Today is a very important day for us, as we pay tribute to our police personnel. Since the independence of our country, nearly 35,000 individuals have sacrificed their lives for the nation, for society, and to maintain the integrity of our country. On this day, we honour their memory. This is both a matter of pride and sorrow for us."

He concluded by stating that police officers strive to manage any issues in the state or country and are ready to sacrifice their lives to keep order and peace. "As you can see, peace is gradually returning, and everything is getting back on track," he said. (ANI)
