A 51-year-old man accused of sending a bomb threat email to the Bihar Chief Minister's office has been arrested by Bihar Police from Kolkata, a senior police officer said.

The Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) stated, "Accused (51) who sent a threatening email to Bihar CM's office has been arrested from Kolkata. Along with this, the mobile from which the threatening email was sent has also been recovered."

The Bihar Police registered a case after the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in Patna received an email threatening to blow up the building. The email, which was received on July 16, came from an unidentified account claiming to be associated with Al-Qaeda.

The sender threatened that the CMO premises would be "blown up with a bomb" and stated that even Bihar's special police could not prevent it.

The threat prompted an investigation by the police and the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). An FIR was filed at Sachiwalaya police station based on a statement from Station House Officer Sanjeev Kumar on August 2.

A case has been registered under Sections 351 (4) and (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 66 (F) of the IT Act against the unidentified individuals involved, police said. (ANI)
