Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital has clarified that claims based on the Medico-Legal Case (MLC) of a 32-year-old woman brought to the hospital on July 20 are misleading, stating that the MLC records the patient's alleged history and should not be treated as the final clinical diagnosis.
In a statement here on Wednesday, the hospital said the woman was brought to RML Hospital on July 20, 2026, and the MLC documented the alleged history as narrated by the patient at the time of presentation, which mentioned an ear injury. However, the hospital said that upon clinical examination, doctors found a lacerated wound on the patient's ear. "The MLC records the alleged history as narrated by the patient at the time of presentation, which mentioned an ear injury. However, on clinical examination, the patient was found to have a lacerated wound on the ear. The wound was appropriately treated with suturing, following which she was discharged in a stable condition," the statement said. The hospital further clarified that an MLC should not be misconstrued as the final medical diagnosis. "The MLC should not be misconstrued as the final clinical diagnosis, as it documents the patient's alleged history separately from the findings on medical examination," the statement added. Meanwhile, Delhi Police on Wednesday issued a formal statement dismissing viral social media claims alleging that a demonstrator received bullet injuries during the July 20 protest in Central Delhi, confirming that hospital records found no proof of firearms usage. Rejecting misleading online reports regarding the July 20 demonstration in Central Delhi, authorities released official medico-legal certificate (MLC) findings showing that the injured individual sustained only a minor blunt trauma wound. Delhi Police in a post on X detailed the official medical examination findings, urging citizens to exercise caution. "Claims circulating on social media that a protester sustained gunshot injuries during the July 20, 2026 protest in Central Delhi are not corroborated by the MLC findings. MLC records a lacerated wound in front of the right tragus, with the nature of injury described as blunt. As per the doctor's opinion, it is a simple injury, and there is no evidence of gunshot injury," Delhi Police wrote. Rebutting the false narratives online and emphasising the authenticity of hospital documentation, Delhi Police noted, "Therefore, the claim of gunshot injury is not supported by the medical findings on the MLC. The public is advised to verify information through authentic sources before sharing such claims." Earlier on July 22, the 21-year-old woman who sustained critical injuries during the Cockroach Janata Party protest on Monday and is undergoing treatment at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital has shown encouraging clinical improvement, the hospital said. The patient has been successfully extubated and is now breathing on her own. She is conscious and responding appropriately to commands, while her MRI scans of the brain and spine are normal. Her clinical condition has been steadily improving since treatment began, and she continues to receive comprehensive medical care under the close supervision of the treating team. She is currently the only patient admitted to RML Hospital in connection with the reported incident. The hospital said all necessary treatment and continuous monitoring are being provided. (ANI)
