The Crime Branch on Thursday said that they have arrested the key accused in the brutal stabbing of a 21-year-old.
The accused have been identified as Himanshu Tiwari (19), a resident of Baljeet Nagar, Patel Nagar. He was arrested near the West Side Mall, Rajouri Garden along with a juvenile accomplice late on May 25-26 night. Earlier, on the intervening night of May 14-15, the victim, identified as Sagar was stabbed repeatedly by the accused due to a previous rivalry. After commiting the crime, the accused fled to Rajasthan to evade arrest, but returned to Delhi to collect money and meet an associate. Acting on specific intelligence, a Crime Branch team laid a trap and caught them. Himanshu, who studied up to school level, had fallen into bad company and was involved in the murder along with his associates, police said. He was formally arrested under relevant sections of BNS/BNSS, while the juvenile was handled as per the Juvenile Justice Act. Both were produced before the court and remanded to police custody. The arrests have strengthened the prosecution's case, bringing the investigation closer to completion. Further probe is underway to trace other associates. This breakthrough underscores the Delhi Police Crime Branch's focused efforts to track down criminals involved in heinous crimes and deliver swift justice. Further details are awaited in the case.
