Following an FIR against him over alleged derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai on Saturday dismissed it as an "AI-generated" video circulating on social media.

Speaking to ANI, Rai said that he would not back down and Congress will file a counter case. He also alleged that a Dalit girl was raped in Mahoba and called for justice.

He said, "That Dalit girl from Mahoba should get justice. File not 10 but 100 cases against me. We will not back down. This was an AI-generated video. Our workers will definitely file a case too."

An FIR has been registered against UP State Congress Committee President Ajay Rai in Mahoba district under various sections of the BNS following controversial remarks directed at Prime Minister Modi and allegations of disrupting public order.

The police action stems from a video that circulated widely on social media, showing a gathering led by the Congress leader. According to senior police officials, the incident involved unlawful assembly and the obstruction of public infrastructure.

"On May 22, a video came to our knowledge through social media wherein State president of Congress Ajay Rai obstructed government work by unlawfully gathering with his supporters, and they also blocked a public road," said Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vandana Singh.

The police official added, "He also made objectionable remarks against the Prime Minister. A complaint was received at Kotwali Police Station in Mahoba, and an FIR has been registered under multiple sections. Action is being taken."

The case was officially filed based on a formal complaint by Advocate Neeraj Rawat, who criticised the political discourse utilised by the Congress leadership.

The FIR has been registered at the City Kotwali (police station) against 25 to 30 supporters, including the outgoing Secretary of the Congress Committee, Brijraj Ahirwar. (ANI)
