The Indore Municipal Corporation carried out a demolition drive against illegal constructions along the stretch between Madhumilan Square and the Cantonment area as part of an ongoing road widening project under the city's master plan.
According to civic officials, several structures identified within the proposed road expansion alignment were removed during the action carried out by the municipal administration. Speaking to ANI about the drive, Additional Commissioner of Indore Municipal Corporation Akash Singh said the action was taken after due process, including mapping and issuance of notices to residents. "There were about 120 houses from Madhumilan Square to the Cantonment area, which were falling within the scope of the road's master plan. Notices were issued to them, mapping was done, and after that, demolition action was taken on almost 120 houses today," Singh said. In a separate matter, a major crackdown on food adulteration and unsafe manufacturing practices, the Food Safety Department raided and sealed an unlicensed ice cream factory operating under highly unsanitary conditions. The action was carried out at the Siddhivinayak Ice Cream Factory following specific directives from Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to eliminate food adulteration across the state. Indore Collector Shivam Verma stated that the district administration has launched a continuous campaign against individuals and businesses compromising public health. "As per the Chief Minister's instructions, the district administration is continuously taking action against adulterators. In this regard, this action was taken at the Siddhivinayak Ice Cream Factory," Collector Shivam Verma told reporters on Friday. Detailing the irregularities found during the raid, the Collector revealed that the manufacturing unit was operating completely outside the legal framework and flouting basic health guidelines. "The raid revealed that the factory lacked a valid license and was not following hygiene standards. Ice cream was being manufactured in extremely unsanitary conditions, which was unhealthy," he said. Taking immediate punitive measures, authorities halted operations at the site. "The factory has been sealed, and materials found on site have been confiscated, and samples have been taken. Further action is underway," Verma added. (ANI)
