Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) MP Tejasvi Surya on Friday, while campaigning for the BJP ahead of the Keralam Assembly polls, launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, alleging a "complete breakdown of law and order" under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Referring to the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, Surya claimed that election officials and judicial officers have been targeted in an unprecedented manner. "Never before in India's electoral history, election commission officials and judicial officers appointed to conduct and overlook an electoral constitutional function have been attacked the way they have been attacked in West Bengal," he said.

He further alleged that the situation reflects a "complete constitutional vacuum" under the current dispensation. "This just indicates the complete breakdown of law and order, the complete constitutional vacuum under TMC's rule, Mamata Banerjee's rule in West Bengal," Surya added.

Expressing confidence in the outcome of the elections, the BJP leader said that the people of West Bengal would vote out the ruling government. "I am very confident that the people of West Bengal are going to teach this criminal, unconstitutional government a lesson. They will be thrown out of government, and an alternative change led by the BJP will be established in the state of West Bengal," he said.

Meanwhile, he described BJP National Executive Member K Annamalai as the "most popular leader of the BJP" after the party left him out of the candidates list for the forthcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

The BJP MP said that, owing to Annamalai's popularity, the party has made him responsible for campaigning for all candidates, which Surya said will translate into victory for the party candidates across the state.

"Annamalai is the most popular leader of the BJP, not just in Tamil Nadu, but he commands a large following all over the country. He has been given the responsibility of campaigning for all the candidates in Tamil Nadu. Even today, he is in Keralam where he enjoys a great following. He is also campaigning in Puducherry, where people are crazy about him. I am extremely confident that Annamalai's popularity and his campaign all across Tamil Nadu will translate into victory for the BJP candidates all across the state...," he said. (ANI)
