A tea garden worker expressed happiness after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited a tea garden in Dibrugarh, Assam, on Wednesday and interacted with the women working there.

Sharing her experience after meeting the Prime Minister, the worker said that it was a special moment for them as they had only seen him earlier on television and in newspapers.

While speaking to ANI, the tea garden worker said, "We felt very happy that the Prime Minister came to visit us. We used to see him on TV or in the newspaper..."

She further spoke about the interaction during the visit and how they showed him their work.

"...but today he came here, and he plucked some leaves for us; we also showed him how--and according to what criteria--the leaves are to be plucked," she added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited a tea garden in Assam's Dibrugarh, interacted with workers, and plucked tea leaves during his visit to the poll-bound state.

PM Modi praised Assam's tea garden workers for their hard work and contribution, calling tea the "soul of Assam" after interacting with workers in Dibrugarh.

In a post on X, PM Modi shared images and wrote, "We are very proud of the efforts of each and every tea garden family. Their hard work and perseverance have enhanced Assam's pride. Here are some more glimpses from a tea garden in Dibrugarh."

"Tea is the soul of Assam! The tea from here has made its way across the world. This morning in Dibrugarh, I went to a tea garden and interacted with women working here. It was a very memorable experience," the post reads.

"The plucking of tea leaves was followed by the women talking about their culture and of course a selfie!" PM wrote in another post.

Prime Minister Modi also addressed a public rally in Assam's Gogamukh and emphasised the development of Assam under the BJP regime and described the previous ten years as an "era of service and good governance."

The Prime Minister expressed confidence in achieving a "hat-trick" of victory in the state.

The polling for all 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam will be held in a single phase on April 9, while the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4. (ANI)
