Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday praised the Union Budget 2026-27, stating that it sets a new direction for national and state development while expanding opportunities for all sections of society.

"Special attention has been given to farmers, women, the underprivileged, youth, small entrepreneurs, and backward sections," the Chief Minister said, congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a development-oriented and inclusive budget.

He added, "The budget includes significant provisions for employment, education, health, tourism, skill development, women's empowerment, industry, and infrastructure. These measures will benefit Uttarakhand and the entire country, creating more employment opportunities for local youth."

Highlighting the budget's focus on environmental and tourism initiatives, Dhami said, "The budget also proposes developing environmentally friendly mountain trails in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir. In Uttarakhand, the budget's focus on tourism and infrastructure is essential to growth. Provisions for farmers, animal husbandry, high-value agriculture, tourism, and MSMEs will strengthen the state's rural and hill economy."

He further noted, "Investments in environmental sustainability, energy security, digital technology, and the biopharma sector will ensure long-term benefits for both the state and the nation."

Stressing the alignment with central government priorities, Dhami said, "The budget has been framed with the objectives of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Atmanirbhar Bharat. The Uttarakhand government will work closely with the central government to effectively implement the schemes and provisions announced in the budget."

Concluding his remarks, the Chief Minister stated, "The budget will not only strengthen the country's economic foundation but also provide equal development opportunities to hill states such as Uttarakhand."

In addition, Dhami highlighted tourism activities, saying, "Under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the development of trekking trails in Uttarakhand will be undertaken under the Central Budget 2026-27," on his X account on Sunday.

"This decision will provide extensive expansion to tourism activities in the state, create new employment opportunities for local youth, and give fresh momentum to the economic and social development of the hilly regions," he added futher. (ANI)
