Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Tuesday launched a sharp counterattack on leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, dismissing his fresh allegations of "vote chori" and accusing him of misunderstanding the electoral process.

Responding to Gandhi's claims that the BJP and its allies were allegedly manipulating voter lists and election mechanisms, Singh said the Congress leader's remarks reflected a lack of awareness about ground realities. "Rahul Gandhi is not a campaigner of the Congress but a superstar campaigner of the BJP," Singh quipped while speaking to reporters in Gonda.

He added that issues related to multiple voter registrations are real but have nothing to do with any conspiracy. "Go to the village and ask around, there must be a hundred voters who are registered here as well as in Delhi, Ludhiana, or Gujarat. Should their names not be deleted from the voter list? It should be done. But he doesn't understand it," Singh said.

Taking a jibe at the Congress scion, the BJP leader asserted that Gandhi's statements and political style ultimately help the BJP. "As long as there is Rahul Gandhi, it's balle balle for the BJP. He doesn't understand real issues," Singh said, suggesting that the Congress leadership remains disconnected from the concerns of ordinary citizens.

Singh also defended the Election Commission, saying the electoral process in India is transparent and robust. "The system is strong enough to prevent fraud. Allegations like 'vote chori' are made only to create confusion among voters," he said.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier alleged that irregularities were taking place in voter rolls in several states, demanding action from the Election Commission and accusing the BJP of trying to "steal democracy." His remarks drew strong reactions from BJP leaders, who termed them "baseless" and "an excuse for the Congress's declining influence." (ANI)
