Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sent a holiday greeting to the nation on Wednesday, emphasising the resilience of the Israeli people amid ongoing West Asia conflicts.

In a post on X in Hebrew, Netanyahu highlighted the significance of Passover and paid tribute to Israel's "heroic fighters."

The post said: "My brothers and sisters, citizens of Israel, As the State of Israel wages a historic campaign for our existence and our future, the Passover holiday reminds us all of a profound truth that has accompanied our people for generations: even in the face of ruthless enemies who rise up to destroy us, the spirit of the people of Israel is stronger than they are, and our faith is stronger than they are."

He added, "It is precisely in these days, as we remember the painful costs, embrace the families of the fallen and the wounded, and continue to act with determination against our enemies, that I wish to send a special holiday blessing to our heroic fighters in the regular forces and reserves, who carry on their shoulders the security of the entire nation."

The Prime Minister drew strength from the story of the Exodus, saying, "We remember that national liberty endures thanks to our heroes who defend the homeland with selfless devotion. We draw strength from the story of the Exodus from Egypt, from the story of our people's freedom, revival, and victory, and we believe that this time too we will stand together, fight together, and, with God's help, prevail together"

Passover is one of the most significant Jewish festivals. Meanwhile, the Times of Israel reported on Wednesday that sirens sounded repeatedly in central Israel in the evening, shortly before the start of Passover, as Iran fired a major ballistic missile barrage and Hezbollah launched rockets from Lebanon.

Citing initial IDF assessments, it reported that some 10 ballistic missiles were fired at central Israel, in the largest Iranian salvo on Israel since the early days of the war.

It added that one Iranian missile, apparently carrying a cluster munition warhead, dispersed bomblets over central Israel. Rescue teams reported damage to homes and vehicles in the cities of Rosh HaAyin and Petah Tikva. Another munition struck a playground in Petah Tikva, causing damage, footage showed.

As per Times of Israel, there were no immediate reports of injuries. (ANI)
