As the Congress Party took out multiple protests across the country against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government, the president of Madhya Pradesh Congress, Jitendra (Jitu) Patwari, alleged on Wednesday that the BJP is "misleading the country."

"Countrymen, Sonia Gandhi, opposition leaders are being targeted, one day your number will also come, whoever has voted will have their number. BJP is misleading the country by spreading hatred. They don't want to make a number 1 country, they are simply hiding their mistakes. Congress party has decided to protest against this across the country," the Congress leader said.

Praising the 'sacrifices' of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, he said that even while her life was threatened, she did not leave the country.

"Sonia (Gandhi) has given sacrifices for the country, there were many allegations, accusations put on her but she never bargained on it. She has always promised to be for the country. Even during the time of terrorism when she was threatened, she did not leave the country," he said.

Hitting back at the BJP, the MP Congress chief accused the party of hypocrisy, pointing out the electoral bonds, accusing the BJP of 'filling their coffers' with the now struck down scheme.

"I believe that to distract from the issues, a lost youth, unemployment, and making a corrupt administration, they (BJP) are trying to hide that. The people who give slogans of 'na khaounga, na khane dunga' have looted the country...you filled your coffers with the electoral bonds..." he added.

Following Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi being named as accused in the chargesheet filed in the National Herald case by the Enforcement Directorate, the party launched nationwide protests against the accusation, calling it 'politically motivated.'

Multiple local party leaders in Madhya Pradesh, including spokespersons Mithun Ahirwar, Abhinav Baroliya, Ritesh Tripathi, Ambika Sharma, and others, attacked the BJP.

Meanwhile, in Delhi, some of the Congress leaders were detained by the Delhi Police as they attempted to breach security cordons near the Congress office. (ANI)
