Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday criticised the JMM-Congress government in Jharkhand, calling on the people to rise up against what he described as a "dishonest" administration.
Addressing a rally, Chouhan pledged to safeguard the rights and security of the people, promising to end injustice and fear if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were elected to power in Jharkhand. He stated, "Our sisters and daughters are standing against this dishonest JMM-Congress government. This is to eradicate injustice and terror. We must protect our 'roti, beti, and maati.' This support is crucial to forming a BJP government here and expelling Bangladeshi infiltrators." In another rally in East Singhbhum, Chouhan promised financial support and employment opportunities for graduates if the BJP came to power. "Once the BJP government is formed, Rs 2,000 per month will be deposited in the accounts of graduates for two years to help them secure employment. Moreover, all recruitment processes will commence in the first cabinet meeting. We will fill 2,87,000 vacant posts," he declared. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticised Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren for challenging the BJP to directly engage in the upcoming elections. Chouhan asserted that the public had already decided that Soren would not win. "What should we confront? He (Soren) himself was recently released from jail for his misdeeds. What more could be expected? The public has decided he won't win the election," CM Chouhan told ANI. In a post on X, Soren had challenged the BJP to confront him directly in the elections, rather than "attacking from behind like the cowardly British." He claimed substantial resources were being used to damage his reputation, referring to investigations by agencies like the ED and CBI. "Sometimes it's the ED, sometimes the CBI, sometimes another agency. Now billions have been spent to tarnish my image. The situation is bizarre," Soren wrote. Soren also criticised the BJP's "double-engine" government, highlighting issues such as closed schools, cancelled ration cards, and unmet recruitment promises despite BJP power at both the Centre and state levels. "The BJP has been in power at the Centre for 11 years and in the state for five years, yet it calls itself a double-engine government. Why were 13,000 schools closed? Why were 11 lakh ration cards cancelled?" The Chief Minister continued, "Why wasn't even one JPSC exam conducted in those five years? Why was the old age/widow pension neither increased nor distributed adequately? Why did hundreds die of hunger in the state? Why were youth advised to make bicycles and sell bananas?" He pledged that if re-elected, his government would continue working for the welfare of every Jharkhand resident. The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to the polls in two phases on November 13 and 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. (ANI)
