Kerala Minister for General Education V Shivankutty slammed Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi over the recent Thrissur Pooram incident, saying that the MoS lacks experience in politics.
Shivankutty statement comes after Suresh Gopi allegedly used ambulance to reach the festival venue after the event was disrupted. Denying the allegations made against him, Gopi demanded for an CBI probe stating that "Kerala police under Pinarayi (Kerala Chief Minister) will not suffice." "Suresh Gopi has lack of experience in politics. No politician has ever used such a language. He thinks he is a king and has a feudal attitude.The word which Suresh Gopi used was not expected from a union minister," Shivankutty said. "Suresh Gopi don't have experience and don't have the eligibility to sit in the post of a union minister . He is surviving with the help of PR," he added. Suresh Gopi earlier demanded CBI probe on the allegations made against him over the use of ambulance to reach the festival site. "This Pooram disruption is going to be a boomerang. Unlike Surendran's claim, I did not arrive at the scene in an ambulance. I arrived in a private car, the district president's personal vehicle. If someone claims they saw me in an ambulance, they need to clarify whether it was a real sight or an illusion. To find the truth, Kerala's police under Pinarayi will not suffice; a CBI investigation is necessary. I am prepared to face it. They should call in the CBI. Many, including former and current ministers in Kerala, fear being questioned," Gopi said. Gopi challenged the state to hand over the investigation to CBI and also questioned police intervention Thrissur Pooram rituals, "If they have the courage--as this may sound like a movie dialogue--if they are truly brave, let them hand over the case to the CBI. Let Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu reveal their truth. The red truth of Vadakkumnathan will melt and fall. Don't they know the truth of Vadakkumnathan Devaswom? It is simply the truth of bloodshed. My visit was to question the police's brutal crackdown on hundreds of Pooram enthusiasts," Gopi said. The Thrissur Pooram row has sparked political debate within the state as the opposition claimed that police intervened in the rituals which led to a disruption. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has however denied that any disruption took place during the event. (ANI)
