Police in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district attached a residential property belonging to a drug trafficker under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, officials said on Friday.

As per an official release, Anantnag Police provisionally attached a double-storey residential property belonging to Javid Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Razaq Bhat, located in Poshkreeri, Srigufwara, under Section 68F of the NDPS Act.

This property, valued at over Rs 50 lakhs, is linked to ongoing investigations under FIR No. 58/2024, where Javid Ahmad Bhat is under investigation for alleged involvement in the illegal possession and trafficking of Codeine Phosphate, a controlled substance with serious health implications.

This action reflects Anantnag Police's commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in the region. Attaching properties linked to drug offenses serves as a stern warning to those involved in illegal activities that they will face severe legal consequences, the release said.

Anantnag Police calls upon the community to remain alert and report any suspected drug-related activities. Public cooperation is vital in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and associated crimes, the release added. (ANI)
