Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sambit Patra said on Monday that the young people of the country are joining the party in "large numbers."

He said that around 61 per cent of all the newly enrolled members in the party are under the age of 35.

"The party membership drive data, which will be released soon, you will see that 61pc of all the new members are youth who are less than 35 years of age. The youth of the country is joining the BJP in large numbers, they are understanding the mission of BJP, this is what is about joining with the party, this is the wish of the Prime Minister," he said during a press conference.

BJP will be releasing the data of their enrolment drive soon, Patra added.

Earlier today, the party reached a significant milestone with its membership reaching 10 crores.

The party also aims to surpass its previous high of 11 crore members. The membership drive will last until the end of October, followed by the party scrutinising its performance from November 1 to 5.

The current membership process emphasises physical enrolment at the Mandal level, transitioning from online membership.

Members will receive certificates after donating Rs 100 and having 50 members under their assembly, according to senior BJP sources.

On September 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the BJP's membership drive 'Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024'. (ANI)
