Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) | September 25, 2024 12:41:43 PM IST
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla lambasted Congress-NC alliance role in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election on Wednesday.

"Congress-NC alliance is an alliance of confusion, no mission and no vision...People of J&K are giving a cold shoulder to these PPP (Parivarvaadi, Pakistan Parasti and Patharbazi patronising parties). Omar Abdullah has to contest from two seats and he is slamming Congress that they are not doing anything in Jammu...After the removal of Article 370, the only support they are getting is from Pakistan," he said.

Poonawalla also accused the NC party of supporting Pakistan and its terrorists.

"Already before the Nikah is final, the talaq has started. It is because people have given them cold shoulder and after removal of Article 370 and 35A, only support they're getting is from Pakistan. They're getting no other support. They're getting support from terrorists. And we have seen the kind of endorsement they have done. They want to impose 370 on that Congress's side," he said.

He further said, "They want to remove reservations for Valmiki Samaj. Congress party is silent on Omar Abdullah's statement on Afzal Guru. And now Afzal Guru supporter Omar Abdullah is slamming Congress and saying that you are not doing anything in Jammu. This is the kind of antagonism that they have in their alliance".

Earlier, JKNC vice president & party candidate from Ganderbal and Budgam, Omar Abdullah gave a terse message to his alliance partner the Congress by suggesting that Rahul Gandhi should focus on Jammu.

I hope after Rahul is done campaigning in one or two seats in Kashmir, he focuses in Jammu. Ultimately, what the Congress does in Kashmir is not important. What the Congress does in Jammu is important," he said.

Meanwhile, a voter turnout of 24.10 percent was recorded till 11 am in the second phase of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir held on Wednesday. According to the data of the Election Commission of India, Reasi recorded highest voter turnout of 33.39 percent while Srinagar recorded lowest turnout with 11.67 percent. As per ECI, Poonch with 33.06 percent, Rajouri with 30.04 percent, Ganderbal with 27.20 percent, Budgam with 25.53 percent. Voting, that commenced at 7 am today, is underway across the Union Territory. It will conclude at 6 pm. (ANI)
