Tarun Chugh, National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Sunday criticised Arvind Kejriwal's announcement to resign as Chief Minister and said that it is nothing but a desperate drama after his return from Tihar Jail.

Chugh said, "Kejriwal's resignation is not a voluntary decision but a legal compulsion. It is nothing more than a shallow and desperate drama after his return. The Supreme Court's directive effectively bars Kejriwal from functioning in his official capacity because of his involvement in the Delhi Excise Policy scam. His actions are driven by legal necessity rather than any moral high ground."

The National General Secretary of the BJP also accused Kejriwal of prioritising his personal interests over serving the people of Delhi with integrity, despite the clear mandate given to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He argued that Kejriwal has failed as Chief Minister of Delhi and engaged in large-scale corrupt practices that undermine his office.

"Public sees through his so called resignation drama, which is a poorly disguised attempt to regain public trust amidst mounting criticism and legal troubles," he said.

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that he would resign from the position of Chief Minister after two days and won't sit on the chair of CM until the public of Delhi declares him "honest." He also asked for early polls in Delhi, to be held along with the Maharashtra Assembly polls. (ANI)
