MP: 7 people including 3 women killed, 11 others sustained injuries in road accident in Jabalpur, CM announce ex-gratia

At least seven people, including three women, were killed and 11 others sustained severe injuries after a loading auto collided with a truck in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district on Wednesday, a police official said.

The accident occurred near Nunji village on the Sihora-Majhgawan road, under the jurisdiction of Majhgawan police station.

"A loading auto and a truck collided near Nunji village on the Sihora-Majhgawan road under Majhgawan police station, in which seven people lost their lives and 11 others sustained injuries. The injured are undergoing treatment at Sihora hospital. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police rushed to the scene. Strict action will be taken against the truck driver," said Suryakant Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP).

Meanwhile, financial assistance has been announced for the injured and the families of the deceased by the Chief Minister, Collector, and local MLA, he added.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister expressed grief over the incident and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased, and Rs 50,000 each to the injured, along with free medical treatment.

"Tragic news has been received about the untimely death of seven people travelling in a loading auto after a head-on collision with a truck near Nunji village on the Sihora-Majhgawan road in Jabalpur district. The district administration has been directed to ensure proper treatment for the injured. May Baba Mahakal grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense loss," CM Yadav posted on X.

"I have instructed the provision of financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured from the Chief Minister's voluntary grant. I extend my condolences to the bereaved families during this time of grief," CM Yadav further wrote. (ANI)
