Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has alleged that the previous YRSCP government had neglected the Budameru canal stream and also failed to focus on the small irrigation projects while talking about the destruction in the state due to the continuous rainfall.

Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, Kalyan said "The previous government was unable to take any effective measures. The previous government neglected the Budameru canal stream. We have assessed the situation at the Annamayya project. They also failed to focus on the small irrigation projects."

Further, he said that the state has been affected due to the continuous rainfall in the state for the past four days and the floodwaters from Telangana entered the state.

"The state has been affected because of the excessive rainfall for the past four days. Special attention needs to be given to Vijayawada. We have deployed 262 Panchayati Raj teams for relief and rehabilitation efforts," he added.

Additionally, he expressed his deepest condolences to the family members of the people who lost their lives in the floods, and appealed to the political parties to come together to participate in the relief efforts.

"As my contribution, I am donating one crore rupees to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Every person who wishes for the well-being of the state should assist in such times. The government is spending Rs 80 crore on the affected district. We must create a master plan for every city to prevent such disasters in the future," he added.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has carried out relief operations in flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada district.

According to the IAF, 6 Mi-17 choppers, along with two Chetak helicopters of the Indian Air Force, have been deployed for dropping relief material in flood-affected areas of Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, 50,000 kg of relief material has been dropped in the NTR District of the state. (ANI)
