BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan slammed Congress MP and leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on Lotus in the Lok Sabha and said that Rahul has insulted the whole nation and should apologise to the country for his bizarre statement.

CR Kesavan said that Rahul Gandhi's statement has insulted the country's culture and religions.

He said, "In the Bhagvad Gita, Lord Krishna talks about duty and karma talks about unattached lotus, not only in Hindu Dharma; in Buddhist Dharma, Buddhist literature equates lotus with the god.".

"In Jainism and Christianity, there are mentions of the Lotus as a symbol," he added.

He further said, "Look at the cultural heritage of India, be it goddess Sarasvati, Padmanava Swami, Lord Vishnu, Brahma, or Goddess Laxmi; the lotus is associated with all our deities.".

Further sharpening his attack on Rahul Gandhi, he alleged that the "Dynastic Chakravyuh" was the reason behind the country's lack of development for decades.

He said, "Dyanastic Chakravyuh has been detrimental and has been affecting the progress of the country's development for decades. Prime Minister Modi has decisively defeated the dynastic Chakravyuh of the Congress Party with the blessings of the people.

He further highlighted the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

"With blessings of the people, Modi ji, with politics of progress and development, has ensured a Surakshya Kavach for our 140 crore Indians and we are well on our way to become Vikshit Bharat," he said.

He said that the bizarre statement by Rahul Gandhi on lotus shows his lack of understanding

He said, "As far as Rahul Gandhi's statement is concerned about lotus, the kind of bizarre statement he made on Padma yesterday shows his lack of understanding. He insulted our national identity and deemed our cultural heritage, the lotus or the Padma, to be such a significant part of history and spiritual heritage."

He pointed out that the name of the Padma awards and military ranks are based on Lotus.

"The highest Civilian award, Padma Shri, Padma Bhusan, and Padma Vibhusan are named after the lotus. The highest military rank one can attain in the army is field marshal and that also contains the Lotus," Kesavan said.

"Our national emblem rests upon a bell-shaped lotus. The state symbols of Maharashtra and Sikkim are lotus and even in the 1857 war, the symbol of revolution was lotus on the bread," he added.

He further stated, "Rahul Gandhi should understand one thing: his father was named Rajiv, which means lotus. His great-grandmother was called Kamala, which means lotus.".

"Rahul Gandhi's hatred for the BJP, particularly Modi Ji, has made him unbalanced and even made him attack the nation for what he has done in the case," he added.

He said that the more the more the lotus blooms, the more it will be attacked.

Earlier, drawing parallels from the Mahabharata, the leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party over the Union Budget and said that there's an atmosphere of fear in the country, adding that the country is now trapped in a "Chakravyuh of lotus," referring to the BJP symbol.
