Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday held a meeting with state BJP leaders and workers on the preparations for the 2024 Assembly elections in Haryana.

After the meeting, the former Haryana Chief Minister told reporters in Karnal, "...The preparations are going on for the Vidhan Sabha elections. The party workers are excited. The lies told by Congress will not work in the next elections. The tactics that they (the Congress) have used in the Lok Sabha elections will not work anymore..."

On senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visit to Hathras and not Tamil Nadu, the senior BJP leader said, "I have heard his statements in the Lok Sabha. I am surprised that such words pop up in his mouth. Is the entire Hindu society violent?. The people of the country will give him a befitting reply (when the people come out to vote during the assembly elections)."

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and Congress won 5 seats each in the State. The BJP registered a vote share of 46.11 per cent, while the Congress registered a vote share of 43.67 percent, and its alliance partner, the Aam Admi Party, registered a vote share of 3.94 per cent.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won all 10 seats in the state.

According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong improvement, winning 99 seats. While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats, the INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions. (ANI)
