Sangeet Natak Akademi to celebrate 150 years of 'Vande Mataram' with National Theatre Festival, chairman Sandhya Purecha shares details

Sangeet Natak Akademi chairman Sandhya Purecha spoke about 150 years of 'Vande Mataram', stating that the National Theatre Festival will be celebrated with the theme of national unity and patriotism.

Speaking to ANI, Purecha shared details about the event and that it aims to spread the message of 'Vande Mataram' and national unity to everyone.

"National Theatre Festival will be celebrated on the theme of national unity and patriotism. Artists from all sections of society will take part in this program from across all States and UTs. This program will start on 15th July in different centres across the country. Through this, we want to take the message of Vande Mataram and national unity to everyone," chairman Sandhya Purecha said.

As per a press release, the National Theatre Festival celebrations will coincide with the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram' and Kalidas Jayanti

To celebrate the significant milestones, the Ministry of Culture has proposed to organise a National Theatre Festival across the country, presenting the theme "Vande Mataram - The Spirit of Patriotism through Indian Theatre."

"The festival will showcase India's extraordinary theatrical diversity while reinforcing the national vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047," the release stated.

As a part of it, the Ministry will organise synchronised nationwide theatre festival featuring 150 performances based on the theme of "Vande Mataram - Spirit of Patriotism".

Also, there will be performances in over 39 Indian languages and dialects, reflecting the country's linguistic richness.

The festival will celebrate India's theatrical heritage while honouring the enduring message of Vande Mataram. Bringing together thousands of artists, hundreds of institutions and millions of viewers, it will demonstrate the unifying power of theatre and reaffirm India's commitment to preserving and promoting its rich cultural legacy.

Also, it will contribute significantly towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, and the national objective of making culture a powerful instrument of social cohesion, creative expression and nation-building. (ANI)
