The major casting changes have taken place in the Emmy Award-winning series 'The Pitt' as the series heads towards the third season.

According to Variety, actress Ayesha Harris, who plays senior night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis, has been promoted to series regular going into the show's third season.

In addition, Supriya Ganesh, who has played senior resident Dr. Samira Mohan since Season 1, will depart the show after Season 2.

The exit of Ganesh is the demand of the story, as reported by Variety. Given that the story is based on the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Centre, a teaching hospital in which it is normal for the residents to come in and out. Dr. Mohan has also spent part of Season 2 trying to determine what the next phase of her career will be once her residency ends, reported Variety.

Harris appeared in four episodes out of 15 in Season 1 of 'The Pitt' and returned for Season 2. In addition to her work in the hit HBO Max medical drama, she is known for her work in shows like 'Daisy Jones and the Six' at Amazon Prime Video and 'Glamorous' at Netflix.

Her other credits include 'This Is Us,' 'The L Word: Generation Q,' 'Abbott Elementary,' and 'Good Girls.'

Season 1 of 'The Pitt' proved to be a smash hit with both audiences and critics. Among its many accolades, the series received 13 Emmy nominations, winning awards in categories like outstanding drama series, outstanding lead actor in a drama series (Noah Wyle), outstanding guest actor in a drama series (Shawn Hatosy), and outstanding supporting actress in a drama series (Katherine LaNasa).

Noah Wyle leads an ensemble cast that includes Katherine LaNasa, Shawn Hatosy, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell and Shabana Azeez.

Actor Sepideh Moafi joined the series in its second season, playing Dr. Al-Hashimi. The series is executive produced by John Wells, R. Scott Gemmill and Noah Wyle, along with Erin Jontow, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan and Michael Hissrich, according to Variety. (ANI)
