Newcomers Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor recently found themselves at the receiving end of trolls over their performance in the film 'Nadaaniyan', which is backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

Neither the film nor the acting of the lead actors went down well with the audience and critics. On Tuesday, during the trailer launch of the Punjabi film Akaal in Mumbai, Karan broke his silence on the backlash received by the star kids.

Condemning harsh reviews of Nadaaniyan, Karan simply said, "Main bas ye hi kahunga, ek purani film ka alfaaz hai ki kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna... chhodo bekaar ki baatein, beet na jaaye raina (Some people will always have something to say, it's their job to talk. Let them be, don't bother with unnecessary things, and let the night pass.)He added. My relationship with the critics never changes towards them according to their reviews. That is your work. I don't have any conspiracy theory that they are doing it deliberately to bring down the film. Kabhi kabhi trollers karte hain, voh bhi benaam log hai, bechare unka apna problem hai, voh hum par nikal rahe hain."

'Nadaaniyan' marked the Bollywood debut of Ibrahim, who is former couple Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's son. Prior to 'Nadaaniyan', Khushi, younger daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, was seen in films like 'Loveyapa' and 'The Archies'. All three projects failed to garner positive response from the moviegoers.

Punjabi actor-singer Gippy Grewal also spoke out against the incessant trolling against Nadaaniyan.

"When we made Carry On Jatta, we heard many people say 'these people are working as if the film will make 100 crores'. And we did it. So, I feel like there's nothing to be upset about. These things boost you up. There are two sides to them. On one hand, you feel a little upset when you hear the criticism. On the other, you feel like, 'No, I will prove myself.' that child (Ibrahim Ali Khan)...he starred in his first film, and maybe some liked it, and some didn't. I feel that when Saif Sir's first film was released, people must have said the same things to him. But today, no one can say anything about his performance, right? So, it's a part of life," said Gippy Grewal.

Nadaaniyan, which is available on Netflix, also stars Suniel Shetty, Jugal Hansraj, Dia Mirza and Mahima Chaudhry. (ANI)
