AR Rahman joins Ed Sheeran during Chennai concert, duo enthralls audience with 'Shape of You X Urvasi' mashup

Wednesday night turned out to be memorable for the audience in Chennai as they witnessed a magical performance of music maestro AR Rahman and British singer Ed Sheeran at the latter's Mathematics tour.

Several visuals from the gig surfaced online that showed Rahman joining Ed Sheeran on stage. The duo not only interacted with fans but also belted out a remix of Ed's Shape of You and Rahman's Urvasi.

Hours after his performance, Ed took to Instagram and expressed his gratitude for receiving an "honour" to share the stage with Rahman.

The British musician kickstarted his + - = / x India tour with a mesmerising performance in Pune on January 30.

Sheeran took the stage donning a t-shirt that said 'Pune' celebrating the city and the crowd erupted in cheers!One of the highlights of the evening was when Sheeran paused for a moment to express his gratitude. He shared that he has performed twice in India, both times in Mumbai and was excited to bring his music to other cities this time.

He also expressed that every visit makes him feel like a tourist exploring this beautiful country and that he is always grateful for the opportunity to perform for the people of India.

Singer-actor Dot., best known for "The Archies", opened the India leg of British musician Ed Sheeran's 'The Mathematics' tour.

The Pune concert was also attended by England cricket team.

From skipper Jos Buttler to all-rounder Liam Livingstone, many cricketers from the touring party were spotted enjoying the gig.

Jos, while speaking with the team of BookMyShow Live, expressed his excitement about touring in India.He said, "I have been coming to India for a long time. It is the best place to tour. Their love for the game is unmatched as compared to other places in the world. It is always a pleasure to come back, for IPL etc and to see the support of fans."" Also, delighted to be here (at Ed's concert). Great that the stars aligned and we were in Pune at the same time," Jos added.

Ed will conclude his tour, organised by AEG Presents Asia and BookMyShow Live, on February 15 with a performance in Delhi-NCR. (ANI)
