Pat Cummins celebrated Australia's record sixth World Cup title by posing with the trophy on a Sabarmati river cruise boat in Ahmedabad.

The celebrations have kicked off for the Australian team after they overcame the unbeaten Indian side and claimed a six-wicket victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.

Cummins-led Australian team celebrated their triumph with a ride on a Sabarmati river cruise on Monday. Cummins posed with the World Cup trophy capturing the essence of the victory as well as capturing the peaceful yet vibrant environment.

Cummins was ecstatic after victory and admitted that they played their best cricket for the final game and said, "I think we saved our best for last. Couple of big match players stood up, and we're pretty stuffed. We've been batting first pretty much for the whole tournament, today we thought, it's a good night to chase down, we thought it might actually get a little bit easier. Everyone was pretty keen to get out there. This year will be remembered for a long, long time and we had a lot of success over the winter and this one peaks it all. At the top of the mountain."

Coming to the match, India bundled out on a score of 240 in 50 overs. On a tough batting surface, skipper Rohit Sharma (47 in 31 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes), Virat Kohli (54 in 63 balls, with four boundaries) and KL Rahul (66 in 107 balls, with one four) posted important knocks.

Mitchell Starc (3/55) was the pick of the bowlers for Australia. Skipper Pat Cummins (2/34) and Josh Hazlewood (2/60) also bowled well. Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell got a wicket each.

While chasing 241, India had the Aussies down at 47/3. Knocks from Travis Head (137 in 120 balls, with 15 fours and four sixes) and Marnus Labuschagne (58 in 110 balls, with four boundaries) left the Indian team without answers and guided them to a six-wicket win.

The World Cup finalists will now compete in a five-match T20I series which will begin on Thursday in Visakhapatnam. (ANI)
