World No. 5 Andrey Rublev has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in the ATP Finals for the fourth consecutive year.
The 26-year-old secured his position in the season finale on Thursday by defeating Matteo Arnaldi in the Vienna quarterfinals. Rublev is the sixth player to earn a spot in Turin from November 12 to November 19. The year-end championships have also been qualified for by Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Jannik Sinner. "It feels great. It's great news. After the match, I didn't know that if I won the match I would qualify for sure, so I didn't know that and it's a great feeling, great news. Looking forward [to it] and happy to be part of the ATP Finals for one more year," Rublev was quoted as saying by ATP. Rublev has had a solid season, reaching the 50-win milestone for the third time in a row. In 2023, he also made history by winning his first ATP Masters 1000 championship in Monte Carlo. The 26-year-old also won the trophy in Bastad, making it the third time in four years that he has won multiple tour-level titles. He is a finalist at Dubai, Banja Luka, Halle, and Shanghai and has a career-high Pepperstone ATP Ranking of World No. 5. Rublev reached the ATP Finals semi-finals for the first time a year ago after beating Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas. In his three prior appearances at the season finale, he is 4-6. There are only three singles spots left for the year-end championships. Stefanos Tsitsipas, the current sixth-place finisher in the Pepperstone ATP Live Race To Turin, is the next in line to qualify.
