Ahead of the 24th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 between Australia and Netherlands at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, Aussie cricketer Mitchell Marsh gave an update on Travis Head's inclusion to the squad and said that he looked good.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Marsh said that Travis Head will be available for selection in the team before their match against Netherlands.

The left-handed opener fractured his left hand following a short delivery by Gerald Coetzee in the fourth ODI against South Africa at SuperSport Park in September. Earlier in October, the 29-year-old had the cast removed.

"I think that decision will be made this afternoon/tonight. He looked good with a bit of range hitting last night. He says the hand feels good. So, I'm sure if he's fit, he'll be available for selection in the team," Marsh said.

Marsh added that he sarcastically asked David Warner to bat at number three. He further added that he will bat at number three once Travis Head makes his return in the squad.

"I mentioned to David Warner, that maybe he can bat three, but I got a firm no from him, so that's being sarcastic there guys. But yeah, very happy to go back down to three. I've obviously batted there a lot over the last couple of years, so I feel really comfortable at three. And if and when Heady comes back in, I think that's the best position for me to play for this team," he added.

While talking about Australia's previous encounter against Pakistan, Marsh said that Pakistan bowled really well.

"To be honest I thought Pakistan bowled really well and gave us a bit of a blueprint on how to go about it certainly towards the back end of the inning so they're a very good outfit and we were able to get on top of them in the first half of the innings, but they came back strongly, and you expect that from teams like Pakistan. So, we'll address it, and hopefully moving forward, we can have a great last 10 overs and apply some pressure to other teams," he added.

Australia won by 62 runs against Pakistan.

The Aussies now stand in fourth place in the ODI World Cup 2023 standings with four points. (ANI)
