Reliance Housing Finance Limited (RHFL) money laundering case accused Amitabh Jhunjhunwala has filed a bail application before the Rouse Avenue Court. The court has sought a response from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the plea.
The ED has already filed a charge sheet against Amitabh Jhunjhunwala and 54 others, which is currently under consideration before the court. Special Judge (CBI) Hasan Anzar issued notice and sought a response from the ED. Senior Advocate Zoheb Hossain, appearing for the ED, sought time to file a reply. The court has listed the matter for further hearing on August 3. Advocates Sowjhanya Shankaran and Anmol Sachan represented the accused, Amitabh Jhunjhunwala. Earlier, the court was informed that the ED had already filed the charge sheet against the accused and that Jhunjhunwala is currently suffering from medical ailments. Meanwhile, on Monday, the court also heard submissions on the point of taking cognisance and consideration of the charge sheet filed by the agency. On June 12, the Enforcement Directorate filed a Prosecution Complaint (charge sheet) against two former senior executives of Reliance (ADAG) group companies--Amitabh Jhunjhunwala and Amit Bapna--and 53 others, including various corporate entities. They were arrested in April 2026 in connection with an alleged bank loan fraud-linked money laundering case involving Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL) and Reliance Commercial Finance Limited (RCFL), registered by the ED.
