BRS leader Harish Rao on Sunday compared Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's remarks on the Kaleshwaram irrigation issue with the mindset of Raju Kumar, an alleged POCSO accused in the Rangareddy murder case, alleging that the Chief Minister's comments reflected a "psycho mindset".

Addressing a press conference, Rao referred to Revanth Reddy's remarks about "blood on crops" and "belt treatment" and said such language was unacceptable from a Chief Minister.

"After seeing that language... I don't see much difference between Revanth Reddy and Raju Kumar, who brutally murdered three children and three adults in Shadnagar by slitting their throats. It's a 'psycho' mindset. He is a psycho," Rao said.

Rao further spoke about the Shadnagar murder case and questioned the government's response to the incident.

"Truly, he's (Raju Kumar) such a psycho that he killed those six people just because 'if they aren't mine, they shouldn't be anyone's'. He slayed them as if he were slitting a chicken's throat. It is heartbreaking. Only one girl survived there. She cannot hear, she cannot speak, and she has no legs. What is her condition now?" Rao said.

"While such a horrific event occurred, the Chief Minister of a neighbouring state reacted to it, but our state's CM hasn't even responded to the incident yet. A senior police official of this state was playing golf at the Hyderabad Golf Club yesterday afternoon while this was happening. What is the law and order situation in this state?" Rao asked.

Rao compared the leadership styles of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and Revanth Reddy, saying KCR sacrificed for Telangana's formation without seeking anyone's blood.

"Back then, KCR Garu risked his life, went to the brink of death, and fasted for 11 days to achieve the state of Telangana. But he never tried to shed blood or ask for anyone's blood. He offered his own blood and life to win this state. But you, when asked for water for farmers, talk about slitting throats and shedding blood. This is the difference between KCR and you," he said.

Rao alleged that the Chief Minister was trying to divert attention from the issue of providing irrigation water to farmers.

"Do you think by abusing us, putting us in jail, or shedding our blood, you can escape the responsibility of providing water to farmers? We are ready for anything. Put us in jail if you want. Take our blood if you want. But give water to the farmers," Rao said.

The BRS leader also targeted the Chief Minister over the Kaleshwaram project dispute, alleging that Revanth Reddy was making incorrect statements about the functioning of the Kannepally Pump House.

Rao said the BRS government had worked for Telangana's irrigation needs and accused the current government of failing to address farmers' concerns.

The controversy comes after Reddy on Saturday accused the previous BRS government of irregularities in the execution of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project and said the state government was working with experts to restore the project.

Reddy said the government had appointed officials and internationally recognised experts to examine the project and that reports from technical agencies would guide further action.

"We are not experts; we are political executives and administrators. We have engaged experts to examine the project and suggest the way forward. Once we receive all the reports by the end of August, we will be in a position to say more," Reddy had said. (ANI)
