Assam CM, Kiren Rijiju discuss flood rehabilitation during meeting in Delhi

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday met Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju in the national capital and held detailed discussions on flood relief, rehabilitation and recovery efforts in the state.

During the meeting held at the Union Minister's official residence in New Delhi, the Assam CM expressed gratitude to Rijiju for his recent visit to the state to review the flood situation and assess ground-level challenges faced by affected communities.

Sharing details of the meeting on X, Sarma said, "Today in Delhi, I had a fruitful meeting with Hon'ble Union Minister Shri @KirenRijiju Ji. I conveyed my gratitude to him for his recent visit to Assam to review the flood situation. During our meeting, he also shared some very valuable observations."

He further said that the discussions focused on strengthening rehabilitation measures for people impacted by the recent wave of monsoon floods across Assam. "Our double engine government will intensify rehabilitation efforts as we help rebuild the livelihoods of all those who have been impacted by these floods," Sarma added.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also took to X to share details of the meeting, stating that he appreciated the Assam government's proactive response during the flood crisis. "Had a meeting with Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam Dr. @himantabiswa ji at my New Delhi residence. Complimented him for proactive steps taken to secure the people of Assam during monsoon floods," Rijiju wrote.

He further added that Assam's leadership is contributing significantly to the state's development trajectory. "His dynamic leadership is taking Assam to an unprecedented level of development," the Union Minister said.

According to officials, the meeting also underlined continued coordination between the Centre and the Assam government in addressing relief, rehabilitation and long-term recovery measures in flood-affected regions of the state.

Additional Chief Secretary to the CM K K Dwivedi and Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan Kavitha Padmanabhan were also present during the discussions held in the national capital. (ANI)
