Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Friday raised questions over the tragic death of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, asking whether the crash that claimed five lives was caused "by negligence or by conspiracy".

He seconded Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar's concerns and queries regarding the police's alleged refusal to file an FIR in the case. He quizzed the government over the pressure on the police against carrying out a thorough investigation in such a high-profile case. He further expressed concerns over the condition of the common people engaged in such processes.

In a post on X, the MNS chief wrote, "Was Ajit Pawar's accident caused by negligence or by a conspiracy? After the tragic accidental demise of Ajit Pawar, many doubts and suspicions are being expressed regarding that incident. In this regard, MLA Shri. Rohit Pawar went to the police station to file a complaint, but his complaint was refused to be recorded. It appears that pressure was brought by the government itself on the police not to register an FIR."

"Why is the government putting pressure not to register an FIR? Even when there are strict instructions that an FIR must be registered, if an MLA's complaint isn't being recorded, then what must be happening to the common people? What happened in Ajit Pawar's case is extremely tragic; after such an incident, if his family has any doubts in their minds and they demand an investigation from the police, and if the government is putting pressure even in the case of a leader like Ajit Pawar that the police should not even register a simple FIR, then the public must certainly find out what shady dealings are involved here," he further questioned.

This comes after NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Wednesday alleged that senior officials at the Marine Drive police station in Mumbai refused to register an FIR related to the Ajit Pawar plane crash case.

Addressing reporters, Rohit Pawar said that upon arriving at the police station, a junior officer authorised to register an FIR was present, along with the senior PI (Senior Police Inspector). He stated that after discussing the matter and convincing them, the officers brought a laptop and began the process of printing the FIR. However, a higher-ranking officer, the Additional DCP, subsequently arrived and refused to register it. (ANI)
