Uttar Pradesh Minister Jayveer Singh on Friday reacted to the recent violence against the minorities in Bangladesh, saying that there are civil war-like conditions in Bangladesh, highlighting that the atrocities are mostly targeted towards the Hindu community there.

"The situation in Bangladesh after the change of power, the way Hindus are being targeted, their properties are being set on fire... this is a matter of concern... protests are also taking place across the country regarding this... There are civil war-like conditions in Bangladesh, and the Hindu community is being most affected by it, and India will not tolerate this..." he stated.

The BJP workers on Friday also held a torchlight rally in Siliguri agaisnt the atrocities against the Bangladeshi Hindus.

Earlier, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi condemned the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, saying that the way extremists are killing Hindus, lynching them, is happening either under the patronage or under the watch of the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.

"The way extremists are killing Hindus, lynching them, and this is happening either under the patronage or under the watch of the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. This is a very sad state of affairs, and we all strongly condemn it. How can this be allowed in any civilised society? How can it be considered acceptable?..." she told ANI

The BJP leader also demanded the safeguarding of the Bangladeshi Hindus

"Our clear demand is that the minorities there must be protected, and this protection is the responsibility of Bangladesh itself. Our human rights organisations and our opposition parties cannot be selective in this. There cannot be selective outrage. We understand your concern about the way children and innocent people are being killed in Gaza. You spoke about that. But why not now? Why are they silent now?...," Ilmi added.

The lynching of two Hindu Bangladeshis sparked a massive political row in India, with protests erupting in West Bengal and Assam demanding accountability from the neighbouring country's government.

Multiple organisations, mostly pro-Hindu activists in saffron-clad clothes, dominated the streets of Kolkata on Friday, demanding that the atrocities being committed against minorities, especially Hindus, be stopped. (ANI)
