Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa says "no further summons" after cybercrime police appearance

A case was filed against him over his recent remark claiming that 50 bombs have entered the state and 18 of them have already exploded.

Bajwa, who was questioned by the police, later told reporters, "They (police) have not called me again, if they call me, then I will tell you."

Defending his message, Bajwa said, "Our children are selling their land and going abroad, many youths are addicted to drugs, this is a big challenge. We have to save Punjab. Congress has good leadership."

The Punjab Congress has come out in support of Bajwa, with party members stating that the issue raised was meant to highlight the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Former Punjab Chief Minister and MP Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday said that the entire Congress party is with Bajwa

"The entire Congress is with Bajwa (Pratap Singh Bajwa) sahab. We will fight this battle together," Channi told ANI.

On Sunday, Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence team reached Bajwa's residence to inquire about the claim by the Punjab Leader of Opposition about grenades and bombs entering the State.

However, the Punjab Police said that Bajwa has not revealed any sources to them. Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence unit Ravjot Grewal, who visited the residence of the LoP earlier on Tuesday with her team, said that Bajwa was not able to provide a source regarding his claims that multiple grenades and bombs had entered Punjab.

"Partap Singh Bajwa had made a statement that grenades had entered Punjab, this was a very sensitive information. So we had come here to ask about the source. My team and I arrived here today because of that. This information is related to national security so it is very important for us to know what is this source and because our Counter Intelligence does not have any information," the AIG told reporters in Chandigarh.
